Snowy Mountain Sunset

Masoroth's Palace,
The Ridge

"Ethereal. God-like. The entire circular valley glistened against the mountains. On one side, a towering palace shimmered in white stone. Obsidian parapets stretched as tall as the silver cliff behind it. On the far side, an obsidian spherical observatory dominated. Thick ivy grew around the palace’s base, like the cliff had grown it.

"We hurried along a curving path matching the palace. Crystalline pools reflected the three towering waterfalls encircling the glade. Masoroth’s wrinkle had been through one of these waterfalls. The sound should have deafened, but it was the only thing I found soothing."

Infamous

Ridgeons

The only person remembered to ever be a part of the Ridge is Masoroth The Wise. He earned the moniker as a jest by a young cousin in his youth, but has grown into it in earnest. He is particularly known for his level, no-nonsense head.

He is the son of Imythre, and the grandson of the gods Conal and Sahlore. This is why he was gifted with uncanny magical ability-or at least, it's assumed to be why.

He is one of the last great magi. â€‹â€‹

Something of

Note

Though the population of the Ridge is very small,  it is one of the largest countries on the Western Continent.  This is in part, due to  mountains stretching much of the country.

Natural magical doorways are one  way of traversing much of the western edge of The Ridge, though they take an incantation to activate.

Conal first saw Sahlore swimming in the pools of the waterfalls that would later become the waterfalls surrounding Masoroth's palace.

*Side note:  Masoroth's Palace and The Ridge both draw inspiration from two of the author's travels. The palace was inspired  by Multnomah Falls in Oregon. The Ridge was inspired by  drives the author and her husband would take to Golden, Colorado. The vistas of the Rocky Mountains stretched for miles, one particularly grand vista stretched in such a way the mountains looked like dragon wings.

Unravel by Philipp Klein is a good representative for The Ridge. Letia does not own any part of the music.

Capital

Masoroth's Palace

Ruler

Masoroth

Peoples

The Ridge is a mostly wild kingdom, though it is also a sanctuary. The few civilizations within belong to magical races the humanities (human, dwarf, elf, halfling, orc)  don't realize still exist,  like sprites, fairies, dryads,  brownies, etc. These towns and cities take special care to shield themselves from the humanities as historically, they  were abused for further power.

Languages

Common, or unique to the individual culture.

Trade

"The Ridge is a brilliantly unique ecosystem. The sense of magic blankets Masoroth's Palace as thickly as a down quilt,  but the ruler, said mage Masoroth, allows for very little trade with the outside world.

"Why this is the case would be pure speculation by this elf, as Masoroth has a certain affinity for Archian horses, and tends to trade with BaShea readily. It should be noted however, this is also exclusively," as marked by Vena’Sati Covisia R’jala Correr, in service to renowned BaShea  The Trader.

History

After the goddess Sahlore, Lady of Light, banished the titans and dragons, the people fought amongst themselves for the greatest magical lands. To quell the unrest, She divided  the  Western Continent, the Eastern Kingdoms, and the Crystal Isles, placing rulers over each.

After Her ascension, rather than attempt to rule the entire Western Continent, Imythre divided it up, creating smaller countries.

The Ridge,  one of four major magical sources, needed special care. Imythre entrusted her son, Masoroth, to rule and nurture the little magic behind.
